THE IMPOSSIBLE BECOMES POSSIBLE

I greet you all with the peace of the Lord. For today, Tuesday 30 July 2024, the biblical verse from which the thought I want to share is inspired is found written in:
Mark 10:27 (NIV)

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

The Gospel of Mark, in chapter 10, presents us with an episode that makes us think. A rich young man, who had always kept the commandments, turns to Jesus with the question of how to obtain eternal life. Jesus' response is surprising: sell everything you have and follow me. Faced with this request, the young man goes away sad, because he had many possessions.
It is in this context that Jesus pronounces the words we read this morning. These words invite us to look beyond our human limitations, beyond our capabilities. They remind us that what is impossible for us is possible for God.
What is the profound meaning of these words?
• Our humanity has limits: We are finite creatures, subject to fragility and errors. We often find ourselves faced with situations that seem insurmountable to us, with desires that we consider unattainable.
• God is omnipotent: He, however, is infinite and transcends all limits. Its power is such that it can transform every situation, even the most desperate.
• Faith moves mountains: When we trust in God, when we put our life in his hands, even the impossible becomes possible. Faith allows us to overcome every obstacle and find the strength to face life's challenges.
What is the invitation that the Lord addresses to us today?
Jesus invites us to look beyond appearances, not to stop at our fears and uncertainties. He invites us to trust in Him, to believe that his grace is sufficient for us. He asks us to abandon everything that prevents us from following him, to open our hearts to his word and to let ourselves be transformed by his love.

This morning we want to pray together saying: Heavenly Father, we thank you for your infinite goodness and your mercy. We thank you for giving us the hope and certainty that nothing is impossible for you. Help us to overcome our limits and firmly believe in your power. Give us the strength to abandon everything that distracts us from you and to follow your will with joy and generosity. In the Name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
