THE WORK OF THE LORD

For today's family worship, Sunday 28 July 2024, I feel in my heart to share with you a thought which has as its key verse:
Psalm 138:8 (NIV)

“The LORD will vindicate me; your love, LORD, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands.”

This morning's verse presents us with a powerful and comforting image. The psalmist, in the midst of his joys and trials, expresses a profound trust in God. He affirms that the Lord "will complete his work in my favor". This statement is not just an expression of optimism, but a deep belief that God has a plan for our lives and that, despite the circumstances, He will bring to completion everything He has started.
What does this mean for us today?
• Like a sculptor shaping a work of art, God works in our lives, shaping our character. We may feel incomplete, imperfect, but God already sees what He wants to do in us.
• The phrase “your goodness, LORD, endures forever” reminds us that God's love is unconditional and lasting. Despite our mistakes and our falls, God never abandons us.
• The phrase “do not abandon the works of your hands” assures us that we are not alone in our journey. God is always with us, supporting and guiding us.
What is the invitation for us?
• Even when circumstances seem adverse, we must maintain trust in God. He is our refuge and our strength.
• God invites us to collaborate with Him in carrying out His plan. We must open our hearts to His grace and allow Him to work through us.
• We thank God for His goodness and His love. We express gratitude for all that He has done and continues to do in our lives.

This morning we want to turn to God together and say: Lord God, I thank you for your infinite goodness. I entrust you with my life. Help me understand Your plan for me and give me the strength to move forward. Never abandon the work of Your hands. In the Name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
