THE LIGHT OF HOPE

Peace of the Lord and have a good start to the week everyone.
For today's "Bread from Heaven", Monday 22 July 2024, the thought I felt like sharing with you has as its key verse:
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”

This morning's verse invites us to keep Christ in our hearts and to share the hope that comes from it with anyone who asks. In this verse, Peter outlines two fundamental attitudes for the life of a Christian:
1. Glorify Christ in the heart:
• What does it mean? It is about recognizing Jesus as Lord and Savior, about nurturing within us a profound submission to Him. It means making Him the center of our life, the source of our strength and inspiration.
or How can we do this?
 Through prayer and reading the Word, nurturing a personal and intimate relationship with Christ.
 Living according to His teachings, with love, compassion and justice.
2. Be ready to account for hope:
• What does it mean? It's about being willing to share your faith with others. It means bearing witness to the hope that animates us, without fear or shame.
or How can we do this?
 Speaking with openness and honesty about our faith, recounting the experiences that brought us closer to Christ.
 Showing with our lives the love and joy that flow from faith.
 Offering an attentive and compassionate listen to those seeking answers and support.
Hope in Christ is a precious gift that illuminates our lives and gives us the strength to face daily challenges. It is a hope that does not fear death, because it is based on the promise of resurrection and eternal life. It is a hope that pushes us to be workers of peace and justice in the world, bearing witness to God's love with our words and actions.

Today we want to pray together and say: God the Father, open our hearts and give us the grace to glorify you in every moment of our lives. Let your hope shine in us and let our lives be a reflection of your love. Help us to always be ready to share our faith with others. Make us instruments of your peace and agents of your kingdom. In the name of Jesus... Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
