FROM DISTRESS TO ANSWER

A good morning with the peace of the Lord to everyone. For today, Wednesday 17 July 2024, the thought that I felt in my heart to share with you has as its key verse:
Psalm 120:1 (NIV)

“I call on the LORD in my distress, and he answers me.”

In this opening verse of Psalm 120, we find a universal human experience: anguish. The psalmist finds himself in a situation of profound affliction, oppressed by a pain that pushes him to turn to God with a desperate cry.
The beauty and power of this verse lies in the response that God offers to the psalmist's invocation: "he has answered me." Despite the suffering, the prayer does not go unheard. God, in his infinite mercy, bends towards suffering humanity and offers his help.
This short verse contains a message of profound hope. In every moment of trial, however dark and desolate it may appear, we can always turn to God with the certainty of being heard. His response may not always be what we expect or desire, but it is always a response of love and salvation.
The psalmist's anguish reminds us that life is full of challenges and difficulties. However, faith in God gives us the strength and hope to face them. His constant presence accompanies us in every step of our journey, transforming even the most painful experiences into opportunities for growth and conversion.

Together we pray to the Lord telling him: God of love, in my anguish and tribulations, I raise my supplication to You. Like the psalmist, I feel burdened by pain and suffering. Please don't abandon me in this dark moment. Hear my cry and give me your help. Give your strength to my fragile soul and inflame my heart with your hope. Teach me to see in every trial an opportunity to grow in faith and love towards You. Guide me on the path of your will and support me with your infinite mercy. I trust in You, my Father, and I know that You will never disappoint me. ... In the name of Jesus, Amen!
With love, Ivano Salerno
