Jesus is the light of the world. Every child of God who follows Jesus will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. Jesus claimed to be the light of this world. We all surely know the discomfort of being in the dark when the electricity is cut off for some time. Until the power is restored, you experience moments of discomfort in which you have the desire to see a little light somewhere in the darkness.
Jesus said that He is the light of the world. For Jesus to say this means that the world is in darkness, darkness of sin and darkness of various kinds such as infidelity, corruption, hatred, wars. Jesus simply stands up and tells the world that He is the light of the world. There is no hatred or jealousy in Him. He is always faithful and just. People go to the Lord, they will find strength and hope in Jesus. Jesus wants us to follow him so that we never walk in the darkness of this world.
So that the works of darkness have no power over you, follow Jesus and you will walk in the light. We need light to illuminate our paths and guide us. If we have the light we need within us, we need fear nothing in our journey of victory with Jesus.
Together we pray to the Lord telling him: God of heaven, I thank you for the way you speak to me. Illuminate my path with Your light. In the name of Jesus... Amen!
