Keep expresses the meaning not only of hugging something, but of hugging forcefully, as if someone were trying to take that something away from you. In other words, you have to have a firm grip otherwise you will lose it! And notice what we need to pay attention to: the confession of our hope.
I like to think of it as a tug of war. You are on one side and the enemy is on the other. He's trying to rip that rope out of your hands. He is trying to steal your hope and make you speak negative words of doubt and disbelief. But you have to be determined and resist. You have to persevere and hold on. Don't let the enemy take away the seed of faith from your heart! You may need to dig in your heels and gain a new grip, but don't you dare give up! Continue to speak words of faith. Continue to declare words of hope. Continue to proclaim the Word of God and continue to hold fast the confession of your hope!
