STRENGTHEN YOURSELF IN THE LORD

Peace of the Lord to all.
For today's family worship, Sunday 4 August 2024, I feel in my heart to share with you a thought which has as its key verse:

Ephesians 6:10 (NIV)

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”

This morning's verse invites us to carefully reflect on our spiritual life. Paul, the apostle, exhorts us to "strengthen ourselves in the Lord and in the strength of his might". This exhortation reminds us that our strength, our ability to face life's challenges, lies not in ourselves, but in God.
We are called to recognize our weakness and turn to Him who is almighty. In a world that invites us to rely on our abilities, our resources, our strengths, the Word of God reminds us that true strength comes from a source external to us: God himself.
What does it mean to "strengthen ourselves in the Lord"?
• First and foremost it means building a personal relationship with God: Strengthening in the Lord comes through prayer and meditation on the Word of God.
• It also means accepting God's plan for our lives, even when we don't fully understand it. We are called to put biblical principles into practice in our daily lives, relying on God's strength to overcome difficulties.
Why is it important to strengthen ourselves in the Lord?
• To face the challenges of life: Only with the strength of God can we overcome trials and tribulations.
• To grow in faith: Fortification allows us to mature spiritually.
• To be witnesses of Christ: When we are strong in God, we can share our faith with others.

This morning we want to turn to God together and say: Lord God, we thank you for your infinite power and for your unconditional love. Help us to deeply understand the meaning of being strengthened in you. Give us the strength to overcome difficulties. Make your Word a sure guide for our lives. Make us instruments of your love and grace. In the Name of Jesus... Amen!

With love, Ivano Salerno
